Installation Steps
Pre-Installation Inspection
Before installation, verify battery condition and prepare the installation area.
- ✓ Inspect battery packaging for damage during shipping
- ✓ Verify battery voltage (should be 13.0-13.4V for 12V models)
- ✓ Check serial number matches order documentation
- ✓ Measure installation space to confirm fitment
Disconnect Existing System
Safely disconnect and remove old battery (if replacing).
⚠️ CRITICAL: Always disconnect NEGATIVE (-) terminal first, then POSITIVE (+) terminal. This prevents short circuits.
- ✓ Turn off all electrical loads and disconnect shore power/solar
- ✓ Disconnect negative (-) cable from old battery
- ✓ Disconnect positive (+) cable from old battery
- ✓ Remove hold-down brackets and lift out old battery
Prepare Installation Area
Clean and prepare the battery compartment for new installation.
- ✓ Clean battery tray - remove corrosion, dirt, and debris
- ✓ Inspect hold-down brackets for damage or wear
- ✓ Check ventilation - ensure adequate airflow (minimum 50mm clearance)
- ✓ Verify cable routing - plan cable paths to avoid pinch points
Position Sentorise Battery
Carefully place the battery in the compartment with correct orientation.
💡 TIP: LiFePO4 batteries are lighter than lead-acid. Use caution when lifting to avoid sudden movements.
- ✓ Verify terminal orientation - positive (+) and negative (-) must match cable positions
- ✓ Lower battery into tray - avoid dropping or impact
- ✓ Center battery in compartment - ensure even clearance on all sides
- ✓ Install hold-down brackets - torque to manufacturer specifications (typically 10-15 Nm)
Connect Cables
Connect battery cables in the correct sequence to prevent short circuits.
⚠️ CONNECTION ORDER: Connect POSITIVE (+) terminal first, then NEGATIVE (-) terminal. Reverse of disconnection order.
- ✓ Inspect cable terminals - ensure clean, corrosion-free connections
- ✓ Connect positive (+) cable to positive terminal - hand-tighten first
- ✓ Connect negative (-) cable to negative terminal - hand-tighten first
- ✓ Torque terminals to 10-12 Nm (do not over-tighten)
- ✓ Apply anti-corrosion spray to terminals
System Verification
Test the installation before putting the system into service.
- ✓ Measure battery voltage - should read 13.0-13.4V (12V models)
- ✓ Check for loose connections - gently tug on cables
- ✓ Turn on one small load (e.g., LED light) to verify operation
- ✓ Monitor for 15 minutes - check for unusual heat or odors
- ✓ Document installation date and serial number for warranty
Post-Installation Checklist
- ✓ Register warranty at sentorise.com/warranty
- ✓ Configure battery monitor for LiFePO4 chemistry (if applicable)
- ✓ Set charger profile to LiFePO4 mode (14.2-14.6V bulk, no float)
- ✓ Label battery with installation date and specifications
- ✓ Keep documentation in accessible location
